“Honey, honey, honey!” is yelled through the living room, buns blazing, as you run away making sure your voice is heard in the midst of our daily responsibilities. You want to do it yourself, and on your time. It feels like we are in a constant negotiation that is heavily one sided…your way.
As we play, dance and sing to whatever hit song is on your playlist, I am in constant awe of how much you have changed and grown this past year. You are brave, passionate, enthusiastic, determined, and boy-oh-boy are you independent. You jump right in and have to do everything and anything by yourself, but not afraid to ask for help when you need it. I know we won’t have to worry about you finding and using your voice when you are older.
One of your most infectious traits is you love to make people laugh. You have this ability to laugh at exactly the right time during a conversation to make a whole room laugh. You make new friends wherever you go and are so kind and generous; willing to share or give whatever toy, treat, or interesting thing you’ve found. You love to call people “silly skoos” whenever they do something out of the ordinary, and laugh and smile from ear to ear while you’re doing it. Somewhere along the way you learned to play damsel in distress, and I think it’s a tactic you use on new people to test their loyalty. I have yet to see an adult or fellow kid not help you up when you’ve “fallen down and can’t get up.”
The love you show towards every human and animal alike is so inspiring. The level of care and attention given to all things is unlike anything I have ever seen. I will forever hold on to the feelings of your daily cuddles, huggies and kissies and you grabbing my hand and pulling me to whatever fun and interesting thing you found or created.
I can’t wait to see what being 2 has in store for you. This year I hope you continue to grow your curiosity and test your boundaries to help you learn, grow, and blossom into the beautiful rose you are named after.
I love you to the moon and back, Miss Taylin Rose.
