As we pull into the parking lot, the memories of my childhood come rushing back to me. Mary’s Firework Stand. Everyone who grew up or lives off Steamboat Island knows this firework stand all too well. Nestled off to the side of a busy road, full of fireworks to put on a show for days. The excitement I saw on Taylin’s face made me smile knowing we will get to share these memories.
As I reflect on our Independence Day, I can’t help but feel so thankful I get to live in a country where I have the opportunity to make my dreams come true and raise my daughter in a country where she will have all the same opportunities at her fingertips.
Independence and this land of opportunity is a gift I will never take for granted, and I will teach my daughter to love it as much as I do.
Let’s make this Fourth of July memorable by counting our blessings and really appreciating our freedom.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
Psalm 33:12
